There are matrices of 4 shapes:
shape 1 – standard,
shape 2 – with adjustable central part,
shape 3 – with enlarged sub-gingival ledge,
shape 4 – with narrowed edges.

The height of the tubes at the edges of the matrices of shape 4 is 2 times less than that of matrices of shapes 1 – 3.
The narrow edges of the shape 4 matrix do not rest on the gum, that allows the matrix to be placed on a low crown and moved around the tooth.
